American Robin
Robins
are often seen in spring and summer hopping along front lawns in
search of earthworms. In fall and winter they turn to fruits and
berries for their meals. Although originally a woodland species,
they have thrived in modern suburbia.
Look For: A plump bird that is
gray-brown above, rusty-orange below. The head and tail are
black. The bill is yellow. The female's head and back are brown.
Length: 9-11".
Habitat: Woods, farmlands,
gardens, parks.
Range: Alaska and Canada (mainly
only in summer) and south throughout U.S.
